Mitiku Gemechu, 47 years is another beekeeper benefiting from Gurmuu’s initiative. He says as follows:
I have traditional beekeeping practices before getting engaged into training given by Gurmuu. I had been harvesting to the maximum of 30 to 50 kg of honey before this training, from traditional beehives. But after the training provided for me starting from 2007 and technical support to 2011 my income was on increment. I have improved on the number of traditional beehives from 15 to 250  and from nil to 12 transitional and 3 modern beehives, on bee handlings, backyard construction, wax usage, separation of honey from other materials, killings/burning of bees, food providing for bees during food scarcity and on other techniques as I have trained. I have harvested 14-15kg per traditional beehives, 24 kg per transitional beehives, and 25 kg per modern beehives last year and I expect more in this year. I have sold above 37,000.00 cash birr means 12 fertilizer sacks from which I have saved some left from  expenditures on fertilizers, seeds, teaching my family and others. I have also constructed having two rooms house in Dadu and Kanate biya town from the selling of honey and I have taken monthly rents. From the kebele I have thought around 200 peoples on visiting arranged by government.
