Asnaku Tsehay, 45 years of age is one of the women on success road with the benefit from the project of SHG! She lives in Kombosha (a rural town also principal of Guduru District) with her six family members. Like her peer women, Asnaku has been one of the poverty stricken persons. But she says, “those dark days have passed! I am now a different woman living better life than the past; I have got many skills from the SHG approach brought by Gurmuu and its supporters. I have the skill of making business, produce fuel efficient stoves and encouraging other fellow women to come out of poverty being a facilitatorâ€.
As she has witnessed, she has been a member of Ama Fayine women SHG established by women group of 15. Improving her capacity and skill from the project, she was posted to serve as community facilitator of the SHG project. With the SHG initiative she established small retail shop of local materials, consumables and fuel wood saving stove.
In relation to the new skill obtained, she has produced and sold 100 stoves each with Birr 100.00 value, (earned income of Birr 10,000.00 within two years time). She has trained all her family members and some neighbors in utilization of fuel efficient stove. She is perceived as model in producing fuel wood saving stove and hosted a practical training of same organized by local government.
As a result of the project, she has upgraded her educational level to Diploma through distance education, increased her capital from Birr 5,000.00 to 40,000.00 in mean time, and supported her five family members educationally.

She envisions working as professional employee, to upgrade her business through establishing a hotel and also scale-up her stove production and marketing scheme.
She says, Galatooma! “Many thanks†to Gurmuu and its supporters of poor women. I and other SHG women are earning better and leading happy life than the past.
